Peter S. Vinczer was commissioned by the RCMP in the late 80’s to completely redesign The RCMP Ceremonial Belt Buckle which has been the standard ever since
It is manufactured from 260 allow brass and gold plated to 4.5 Micro inches military standard.
The logo in the centre of the buckle is minted from solid brass and triple struck to obtain the distinctive high resolution and detail. The bison was modelled from an actual live buffalo in Niagara FAlls. When the Belt buckle was finally introduced to the officials at the RCMP quality control centre in Ottawa, the remark was, “We finally have a bison, not a goat.”
